Illustrador danés popular del comienzo del siglo XX, la época oro del la illustración, con Daniel Vierge y otros pioneros que desarrolla técnica de la impresión para reproducir dibujos y pintura con facilidad. También es conocido por su colaboración con Disney, con sus esbozos e illustraciones de fantasía.
Uno de sus tarbajos conocidos es un libro de los cuentos de fantasía nórdicos ¨East of the Sun and West of the Moon ¨ donde recoge sus excelentes ilustraciones.
